Backpack to School Program
Welcome to our new supportive services effort: The Backpack to School Program!
Whether they are starting kindergarten or their senior year, a new school year is always met with a flood of anticipation, eagerness, and nervousness for students...(and their parents). The Utah AIDS Foundation recognizes that going back-to-school can be particularly stressful for our clients who have children. Because of your generous support and participation in our Seasons Givings program, we would like to invite you to join our newest Supportive Services effort: The Backpack to School Program!
You can help our clients start the school year strong by providing school aged children, K-12, with new shoes, pants, a shirt, and backpack. Your participation in the Backpack to School Program will ensure these students have the tools they need to feel prepared, confident, and excited about going back to school.
Last year, the Retail Federation reported the average family spends almost $700 on back-to-school supplies each year. For families who are already facing the unique challenges of living with HIV, those funds can be hard to come by. The skyrocketing cost of sending children to school motivated the Utah AIDS Foundation to provide additional support to our clients by establishing the Backpack to School Program for the 2017-2018 school year. Your support is key in ensuring the success of this program. Please consider donating to help our clients prepare for the new school year!
We thank you in advance for your support! To fill a backpack for a student, please come to the Utah AIDS Foundation or call Brandy at (801) 487-2323 for more information.
We are also accepting donations of common school supplies that will be available in our food bank (see list below).
You can also show your support by making a monetary donation online or calling us at (801) 487-2323 or sending a check to Utah AIDS Foundation at 1408 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.
Thank you again for your support!!
