Social & Support Groups

The Utah AIDS Foundation understands that it can be very difficult to deal with HIV-related issues alone. Social support groups offer a variety of settings in which you can talk about what you are going through with others in similar situations.

Current social & support groups include:

Woman's Centered Support Group for those living with or affected by HIV.
This group is facilitated by the Utah AIDS Foundation.  The goal of this group is to not only provide a safe a caring place for women to discuss their concerns, and provide support to each other, but this group also focuses on empowerment in choices, daily living, and discussing family and relationship concerns. Facilitated by Misty Thompson, UAF Case Manager & co-facilitated by Darcie Lane.  Participants must speak with Misty before joining the group at 801-487-2323 or misty@utahaids.org
 

HIV + Gay Men's Support Group for those who are HIV+
This group is facilitated by the Utah AIDS Foundation and meets in our group room. Call Zoe Lewis, UAF Case Manager, at 801-487-2323 or e-mail her at zoe.lewis@utahaids.org for more information or to enroll in the group. 

HIV+ Women's Social Group
This is a social group for HIV positive women. This group meets every other week to chat and have fun with each other. Come and meet other women who are living with HIV. Call Toni Johnson at 801-484-2205 for more information.
 
Hepatitis C Support Group
Social/support group for people living with Hepatitis C as well as their family and friends. Meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month at 6:30 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church located at 261 South 900 East in Salt Lake City. Call Amber at SLVHD at 534-4620 or 949-0993 for more information.

General HIV+ Group
This is a therapeutic group designed to assist participants in working out what it means to be an individual living with HIV. Especially if you have been diagnosed with HIV recently, this group might be for you. Call Jerry Buie at 801-595-0666 to get involved in this group.

General Gay Men's Support Group
This diverse group of men focus on individual and community issues. Topics discussed in group include relationships and dating, spirituality, coming out, living in Utah, community resources and events, job issues, family, friends, substance use and abuse.
