PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Grant writing includes prospect research, proposal drafting and grant reporting. Grants make up approximately half of UAF's income. This includes grants from government, private foundations, corporate foundations and corporations. When drafting a proposal, the grant writer uses various forms of research to support the need for a specific program. The grant research assistant will help gather the research, enter it into Endnote (bibliographic software), and monitor the research process.
SKILLS NEEDED:
Attention to detail is the most important skill needed for this position. Research skills are a plus and reading comprehension skills are also necessary.
HOURS AVAILABLE:
Since you would be working directly with our staff grant writer, the hours can be very flexible - anytime Monday through Thursday, 9am - 3pm. This project only requires a few hours a month, but can include more if you wish to engage in more research.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT:
Agency Tour, New Volunteer Orientation
WHY THIS PROGRAM:
Grant writing helps maintain UAF's programs. It offers great insight into the programs, the community's needs, and HIV/AIDS in general.
