Program Description
Area hospitals provide homebound UAF clients with a daily hot meal. Volunteers are needed to transport meals from hospitals to client homes.
SKILLS NEEDED:
Volunteers must have access to a vehicle and have proper driver’s license and proof of insurance. Volunteers must be comfortable interacting with clients in their homes and must respect confidentiality. Volunteers must be extremely reliable, as missing a shift means that our clients don’t eat that day.
HOURS AVAILABLE:
Meals are picked up at 5:00 PM delivery usually takes about 1 hour. Volunteer must commit to deliver meals two days a month for a minimum of 6 months.
WHY THIS PROGRAM:
You’ll have the opportunity to provide important services to homebound clients. Sometimes you will be the only visitor/social support they have. Your dedication in this program brightens their day and prevents them from going hungry.
