Massage Therapy

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers needed to provide clients with appropriate and complimentary  massage therapy for optimal health and wellness.

SKILLS NEEDED: 
State of Utah Licensed Massage Therapist (preferred), or current student at an accredited massage therapy school. Some previous massage therapy experience is necessary.


HOURS AVAILABLE:
Must be able to provide a minimum of 1 one-hour session weekly. Therapy sessions to be provided at volunteer's location or on an out-call basis. Attendance at occasional training and coordinating meetings will also be required.


TRAINING REQUIREMENT:
Agency Tour, New Volunteer Orientation and program specific training.


WHY THIS PROGRAM:
Massage therapy offers relief from the physical and emotional stress that a person with AIDS may encounter. Many clients may experience severe negative side affects from the medications that are prescribed for them. Massage therapy can reduce some of the damage and possibly help restore function that has been lost because of these side affects.
