Speaker's Bureau

 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers are needed to educate the community about HIV/AIDS basics: transmission, prevention, and disease progression. This is an effective and often powerful way to impact the community and educate them about HIV.

SKILLS NEEDED:
Public speaking skills are a MUST. Basic knowledge of HIV disease and AIDS necessary. Volunteers need to be comfortable discussing very sensitive subjects with large audiences and answering questions. Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation to speaking engagements.

HOURS AVAILABLE:
Most of our requests come from the school system so daytime availability is desired but not required.

WHY THIS PROGRAM:
One of the most important parts of effecting widespread HIV prevention is the education of the community.  Our speakers talk to a variety of different groups, including schools, incarcerated populations, church and community groups, and other UAF volunteers.
